Lesson: Vertical Community

We are living through the rise of the vertical community. Sorry, I couldn’t resist. All jokes aside, nations are becoming more urban, creating a demand for increased housing density, which means increasing numbers of urbanites live in high-rise apartments. As apartment buildings become taller and density increases, we risk living in asocial societies where no one knows anyone and losing a sense of community. In this lesson, we discuss the idea of community as architecture and how cities can create buildings that are vertical communities to prevent asocial societies from forming.
