Lesson:

On Being Average

Are we doing ourselves a disservice? In western society, we like to think we as individuals can become number one. If we are not the best, we tell ourselves we can be. However, only one person can be the best at anything. There is a much greater chance that we will not be number one or even number 21. Striving to be the best may cause us undue stress and strain. At our best, we may be mediocre or slightly better than average if we’re lucky. Perhaps it’s time we accept there’s nothing wrong with being average.
