There is a silent crisis ongoing in Japan. A generation is dying right before our eyes, but no one can see it. A large part of a generation has been caught in a changing social and family environment. As a result, they are falling through the cracks. People die alone every day, and often their death is not noticed for weeks. Then, to add insult to injury, no one wants to pay for the funeral or interment of the remains. Why is this happening? How can it be prevented? And most importantly, what does it say about the society we live in when death is not noticed or acknowledged?
