Lesson: Guardians of the Future
School shootings are a uniquely American phenomenon. In 2018 there were 24 school shootings in kindergarten to grade 12 schools. In these shootings, 113 people, including children, were killed or injured. Then we have to think of the countless numbers of people who experienced terror, stress or PTSD as a result. President Trump has called for arming teachers. Already in Texas, many schools have armed teachers on campus. Is this the solution? Can teachers with firearms protect students against monsters with guns? Perhaps a uniquely American problem requires a uniquely American solution.
