There was a time when the only clothing you rented was a fancy dress or tuxedo for a high school prom or a wedding. Of course, Japanese rent kimonos, but who can afford to buy one these days? Now, you can rent almost anything. If you want to live like the rich and famous for a few days, rent some brand-name clothing, have it delivered to your door, and send it back when the lustre of living like an influencer wears off. Or you may have a job interview with a prestigious company and have nothing to wear. No problem, Just rent it! It may be easier on your pocketbook and the environment.
