Lesson: Ending Senescence

C’mon, you’ve thought about it. You’ve wondered about your own mortality. If you are living in Japan, it is impossible not to think about it. We are in the midst of an ageing population. One of the biggest businesses in the Western world is the funeral business. Funeral parlours are the most popular places – people are dying to get in. (That’s a joke, by the way.) What would it be like to be immortal? There would be no such thing as a lifetime guarantee anymore, that’s for sure. Marriages would have an expiry date, and the idea of lifetime employment would have an entirely different meaning. Not to mention the fact that the idea of retirement would have to be completely redesigned. These are just a few things to think about. Remember, we are not talking about cryogenics here. Cryogenics is just putting your life on hold and being revived sometime in the future. We’re talking about living forever or at least 1000 years, whichever comes first.
