Lesson: Death & Taxes

The only two sure things in life are death & taxes. We have somewhat defeated death by living longer and healthier lives, but taxes, well, we can’t seem to beat taxes. All around the world, governments are increasing inheritance and estate taxes or want to do so. The Japanese government has quietly figured out how to catch foreigners even after they have left Japan. The problem is that nobody likes taxes, and the more we have, the less we want them. Canada does not have an inheritance tax. The estate itself is responsible for paying taxes after a person dies before someone inherits it. The taxes are still paid, mind you, but the Canadian government figured out a way to tax the items themselves instead of the people. Nobody and nothing is safe from being taxed.
