Lesson:

Data Burn

What the heck are we going to do now? We know climate change is real, and we know its effects are already upon us. We’ve been told that our commutes, whether they involve planes, trains or automobiles and, yes, helicopters if that’s how you get around, are major contributors to greenhouse gasses. As a result, we’re going digital, focusing on renewable energy and moving towards electric and hydrogen-powered transportation. Now, our emails, video and other forms of data consumption and storage are killing the planet. Power-hungry data centres have become significant causes of carbon emissions. What’s next? Will governments throttle our data usage? Perhaps emails will face a special carbon tax?
