Lesson: Cold Therapy
Have you ever applied an ice pack to a swollen ankle or knee after an injury? If so, then you’ve already experienced the benefits of cold therapy. Cold therapy, also known as cryotherapy, is a treatment that involves the application of cold temperatures to the body, typically to reduce pain and inflammation. It’s a simple and effective way to manage various conditions, from minor injuries to chronic pain and perhaps even anxiety. Apparently, the cold temperature causes the blood vessels to constrict, reducing blood flow to the affected area. This helps to reduce inflammation, swelling, and pain. Cold therapy can also help numb the area, temporarily relieving pain. So, would you take the plunge and immerse yourself in an ice-filled bath to combat pain or anxiety?
