Beautification. What does this word bring to mind? Well, if you live in an urban environment, it may cause you to think of public art, and public art is the topic of this lesson. Public art is unique yet, at the same time, ubiquitous. You can see public art installations on the beach, in graveyards or in the dead space between buildings on university campuses. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and nothing is more accurate when discussing public art. Controversy surrounds many works of public art. They are inappropriate, ugly, overly expensive or all of the above. Before you read the articles, take a moment to contemplate public art.
