Lesson: #Adulting

Growing up is hard to do. It was hard when I was doing it (my wife would tell you that I haven’t finished yet), and it’s still hard today. It’s not the same as it used to be, though. You’ve probably heard the English expression ‘they don’t make’m like they used to.’ Well, it’s true. Humans are taking a long time to grow up. I mean, heck, my father was smoking cigarettes when he was ten years old, and I began earning money when I was twelve. These days with #adulting, young adults-to-be celebrate getting out of bed in the morning or cooking dinner for themselves. Those are baby steps on the way to becoming an adult. When did you realize you were an adult, and how did you get there? Did you celebrate little steps towards adulthood, or did you wake up one day and realize that you weren’t a little you anymore; you were a big you? Then again, if you’re like me, perhaps your adulthood is still a work in process. Hey, I’m a kid at heart!

Each conversation topic is based on a theme. In order to help students acquire a basic understanding of that topic, four media articles are provided for them to read. I will never test you on the articles, but I strongly suggest you book lessons far enough in advance to give yourself enough time to properly prepare. The better prepared you are, the more benefit you will receive from our conversations.
