Lesson: 5Gs in the Office
Western countries are simultaneously undergoing two significant societal changes. First, the population is ageing – rapidly. Second, the birthrate has hit rock bottom levels, which means that the population is not being replenished. The workforce is shrinking, and early retirement is mostly a thing of the past. Pension ages are being pushed back to 67 or 70 years of age. This means up to five generations are in the workplace for the first time at the same time. So, what are we to do? Each generation has its strengths, working styles and weaknesses. Can we get them all working together in harmony? We have to. Gather your thoughts. Formulate your opinions. I’d love to hear them in our next lesson.
