Lesson: Eat the Rich
Eat the Rich. I suppose you think this is a strange thing to say, and you may be right. It’s only a part of a longer quote from Jean-Jacques Rousseau. “When the people shall have nothing more to eat, they will eat the rich.” He was Swiss, and his thoughts influenced the French Revolution. For a while now, there has been a widening gap between the rich and the poor. It’s not as evident in Japan yet, due to the simultaneous graying of society. It is very apparent in the US, though. Did you know the number of Americans living below the poverty line is higher than the entire population of Canada? It’s true. 40,000,000 Americans are living below the poverty line, while there are only 37,590,000 Canadians in total. People believe the rich are not like the rest of us, and they are right.
