Word of the Day: Wonky

If something is wonky, it is just not right; things are somehow unsatisfactory, not straight, not strong enough or not working correctly.

Probably the most famous example of something being wonky that I can give you is the Leaning Tower of Piza.

It’s immediately evident to anyone who looks at it that something is not right.

The tower does not look right because it is leaning to one side or, in other words, wonky!

I’m sure you’ve had a bad knee once or twice.

You know what I mean?

It’s sore, and you can’t walk on it for a few days, but it returns to normal again.

If you use computers daily, you will have experienced a problem with a program or app that does not seem to be working right.

Its performance is just not satisfactory, and you have to call the IT guy to come up and take a look at it for you.

Well, in both of these cases, your knee and your computer are wonky.

This post is understandable by someone with at least a 7th-grade education (age 12).
