Word of the Day: Trimmings

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, I can’t wait for Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

Of course, I’ll have to cook Christmas dinner, but it’s just such a special dinner that I wait for it each year with bated breath.

I get to cook a whole chicken (turkey is hard to come by in countryside Wakayama) with fresh potatoes, carrots, cranberry sauce, mustard pickles and, of course, Christmas cake for dessert.

We can’t forget the Christmas cake!

That’s the most important part!

The word for today is trimmings, which are all the other foods that accompany the main dish.

Depending on the family and the culture, trimmings could be any number of things. The one thing they all have in common is that they are all delicious! YUM!
