WotD: Touch-type

How are your typing skills, and how did you learn to type?

If you’re as old as I am (in the neighbourhood of forty), you probably learned to touch type in school on a word processor.

If you can type without looking at the keys, you can touch type.

Touch typing is an essential skill when using a computer.

If you’re a little older than me, then you probably learned to type on a manual typewriter.

Anyway, if you can type without looking at the keys, then you can touch-type.

If you are a terrific typer, you can close your eyes and write down what you hear or think without looking at the keys.

So I ask you again, how are your typing skills?

Can you type with your eyes closed (without making mistakes, of course)?

Then again, perhaps you’ve never acquired the skill and still hunt and peck your way through your day.
