Word of the Day: Tightwad

Calling someone a tightwad is not a nice thing to do.

A tightwad is a cheap person who usually has money but refuses to spend it.

It’s OK to be frugal and not waste your money, but you don’t want to spend money on anything if you’re too frugal.

Probably you have enough money to buy new clothing, but you do not want to spend the money to buy new clothes, so you wear old threadbare clothing.

Scrooge in the Charles Dickens novel ‘A Christmas Carol’ is the quintessential example of a tightwad or a person who is reluctant to open their wallet for any reason.
