Word of the Day: Tacky
You’ve probably seen people wearing something tacky that you, yourself, would not be caught dead wearing.
Sometimes entirely by accident, or maybe on purpose, a person will wear something that is tacky or in bad style and looks cheap.
Think about the typical ugly Christmas sweater. If you do a quick Google image search for ‘ugly sweater’ you will instantly get thousands of ugly Christmas sweaters.
They are the kind that can only be worn at a Christmas party after you have consumed more than a few wobbly pops.
These sweaters are so terrible that they are a fashion statement in themselves.
If you wear a tacky Christmas sweater you are telling the world, ‘I know it’s tacky, but it’s Christmas, and I don’t care!
When people get into the Christmas spirit, they can do strange things. The next time you see someone trimming the tree or standing under the mistletoe in a terrible Christmas sweater, don’t judge them harshly.
Christmas time is one of the only times of year when adults can do silly things and get away with it.
