Word of the Day: Tacky

You’ve probably seen people wearing something tacky that you would not be caught dead wearing.

Tacky is often used to describe clothing that is obviously cheap and in bad style.

Anything that is fashionably terrible is tacky.

Sometimes, entirely by accident, or maybe on purpose, a person will wear something tacky or in bad style that looks cheap.

Think about the typical ugly Christmas sweater.

If you do a quick Google image search for ‘ugly sweater,’ you will instantly get thousands of ugly Christmas sweaters.

They are the kind that can only be worn at a Christmas party after you have consumed more than a few wobbly pops.

These sweaters are so terrible that they are a fashion statement in themselves.

If you wear a tacky Christmas sweater, you are telling the world, ‘I know it’s tacky, but it’s Christmas, and I don’t care!

When people get into the Christmas spirit, they can do strange things.

Don’t judge them harshly the next time you see someone trimming the tree or standing under the mistletoe in a terrible Christmas sweater.

Christmas time is one of the only times of the year when adults can do silly things and get away with it.
