Word of the Day: Shenanigans
Shenanigans are activities that are secretive or, in some way, dishonest.
They’re often funny, foolish or downright silly.
Things such as an illicit affair, accepting political donations, or even merely sending out a stupid tweet.
I’m thinking of President Trump’s tweet, “Who can figure out the true meaning of ‘covfefe’”??? Enjoy!”
Politicians are constantly having their secret activities exposed by the media.
Shenanigans can also be silly fun, such as putting gelatin powder in your friend’s coffee (I did that!).
As far as I can tell, shenanigans are most often used to describe the silly things that politicians do without thinking.
With this in mind, it’s a great word to use when thinking about Japanese politicians.
They’re always doing stupid or silly things.
Thanks for reading.
Be kind to others, and don’t get up to any shenanigans today.
You never know where there is a reporter with a camera.
