WotD: Rite of passage

There are some things in life which highlight a change in our lives.

They could be official ceremonies or informal events that have a significant meaning.

The one thing they have in common is that they are rites of passage.

A rite of passage is an official ceremony or informal event, such as a job or university graduation, that highlights a change in one’s life.

In some ways, getting your first job fits the bill.

It signifies that you have begun supporting yourself and becoming an adult.

Other things such as getting your driver’s license, reaching the age when you can legally drink alcohol, graduating from high school or gaining entrance to university are points of significant change in our lives associated with #adulting; they are all rites of passage.

This post is understandable by someone with at least an 8th-grade education (age 13 – 14).

On the Flesch-Kincaid reading-ease test, this post scores 64.

The easier a passage is to read, the higher the score on a scale of 0 – 100.
