Word of the Day: Politically Correct

This is a term that we hear daily.

We hear things like, ‘We must learn to be politically correct.’

Some students have told me they do not understand what politically correct means.

Well, very simply, it means a person avoids saying or doing anything that could be offensive to other people.

In my opinion, being politically correct means accepting the differences between people.

These differences could be related to race, religion, sexual preference, employment status, financial situation, level of education, physical appearance, and so on.
