If a person calls something newfangled, they mean it's unnecessary or is an unrequired change to something that is already working well.

Word of the Day: Newfangled

Today’s word is often used negatively.

If a person calls something newfangled, they mean it’s unnecessary or an unrequired change to something already working well.

For example, someone could say, ‘I don’t understand all these newfangled sharing apps. I remember when everyone was on Facebook, things were much simpler!’

When I used newfangled in explaining the expression the best thing since sliced bread, I was trying to be funny.

Honestly, I really would like to see some fashionable wearable technology.
