WotD: Looming

Many things are looming over Japan these days.

Of course, the big one is North Korea and their missiles.

Another is the monetary crisis which a rapidly ageing society is creating for the younger generations.

When we say that something is looming, we mean that something unwanted or unpleasant will happen soon.

As you can see in the picture, the dark storm clouds are approaching in the distance.

Wait, I haven’t finished listing the potential crisis for Japan.

If you live in Japan and don’t have a healthy sense of crisis, you must have your head in the clouds.

Still, another looming disaster on the horizon is the massive earthquake predicted to hit the Tokyo area sometime in the future.

If that one doesn’t happen soon, then there is also the possibility of the looming Nankai earthquake, which will affect me directly.

They say there’s a strong probability of it occurring within the next thirty years.
