WotD: Lame duck

The G7 Summit was just held in Mie, Japan, and President Obama made his historic visit to Hiroshima.

Since the idiom I chose for today is like water off a duck’s back, I decided to stick with the duck theme and introduce the noun lame duck for my word of the day.

President Obama is at the end of his presidency.

He has only a few months left.

That means the President is a lame duck.

A lame duck is any elected person who is at the end of their time in office.

When at the end of their term, an elected person has no power.

They are almost finished with their jobs and have little time or power left to do anything new.
