Word of the Day: Juicy Bits
Most people are interested in a real scandal.
More notably, they are interested in the juicy bits, the fascinating but slightly naughty pieces of information that should usually be kept hidden or secret.
Most recently, a scandal surrounded Kazuyo Matsui’s English language video.
In this video, she talked about her husband’s affair with her best friend.
She mentions many juicy bits of information that Japanese usually never talk about, such as the fact that he has ‘fake hair’ and uses a particular pill to ‘lift’ his spirits, so to speak.
As another example, when news of the Panama Papers tax evasion scandal first broke, many people wanted to hear about how rich people from many countries cooked the books to hide their income.
Of course, there’s a lot of technical information which is very important to know.
The thing is, technical knowledge is dull, and most of us are not interested in that kind of stuff.
Like any scandal, we just wanted to gossip about the juicy bits.
