Gather dust

Gather dust means to be unused for a long time. If something doesn't move or isn't used for a long time dust will gather on it.

Word of the Day: Gather dust

As time progresses, new technology is accepted, and old technology is left behind to gather dust, which means to be unused for a long time.

Look at the books in the accompanying picture for this post today; they are just sitting on the shelf unloved, unused, gathering dust.

Someone somewhere is using a Kindle instead. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s just what happens.

Many older things have been abandoned or left on shelves and in boxes worldwide. Eventually, some of them wind up in museums or landfills. Most of them are forgotten for decades or recycled.

Take care, everyone, and have a lovely weekend.
