Dappled is a lovely little adjective that you can use to describe something covered with light and dark spots.
For example, in the accompanying picture, you can see the sunlight shining through the trees onto the road.
Dappled is used to describe something covered with light and dark spots. The road is dappled with sunshine shining through the trees.
We could describe the scene by saying: The road is covered in spots of sunshine.
If you want to add a new word to your vocabulary repertoire, the next time you walk along a tree-lined street, you can say: The road is dappled with sunshine.
