Word of the Day: Aptitude
An aptitude is a natural skill or ability with which someone is born.
Most language students work very hard to improve their skills in the language which they are studying.
However, sometimes, a student seems to learn super quickly.
Some people are naturally good at math, others are good at baseball, and others are good at different things.
That’s the way it goes.
An aptitude for something doesn’t mean a person doesn’t have to study.
It means that they will learn something more quickly than those who do not have a natural ability for that subject.
Often, we get jealous of these people, but we shouldn’t because it is not their fault.
These people, who are very good at learning a language or other topic, have a natural ability for languages.
The good news is that most of us have an aptitude for something.
If you don’t know what you have a particular skill for, spring is a great time to discover it.
