Phrase: While away
Hundreds of millions of people worldwide are whiling away their time doing things they never had time for before.
Cooking, baking, eating, board games, puzzles, YouTube, Zoombombing, binging on Netflix, Hulu, Udemy, Skillshare, reading ArtisanEnglish.jp posts, dancing all by my/yourself in the living room – HEY, don’t judge – cabin fever is making people do all kinds of weird stuff.
Who can blame them?
It’s a pandemic, people! What else are we going to do?
We’re all just looking for a place to happen, but as we cannot go to that place due to social distancing, we are stuck inside, whiling away the time.
When you while away the time, you do some activity because you have nothing else to do and you can’t do anything else at the moment.
When life gives you lemons, (a pandemic is definitely a great big, fat sour lemon), you make lemonade.
Instead of uselessly whiling away the time, we now have an opportunity to make the most of our downtime to improve ourselves.
Have you ever wanted to learn to code?
Now’s your time.
How about learning Russian?
I’m sure you could find a Russian, or 5,000,000 of them, who would love to have a little chat.
Remember now, no Zoombombing, that’s just so passé.
Productivity people! It’s what made us who we were before the pandemic.
Remember that?
People used to stand on the street with a free hug sign.
You always thought they were crazy, right?
Well, they were crazy, but the thing is, they are not whiling away the time.
They’re making new signs.
There will be life after COVID-19.
