Phrase: Up your game
You live in a dog-eat-dog world that forces you to up your game daily.
There’s no doubt about it.
Just when you are bringing your A-game and finally getting ahead of the game, it all starts to fall apart right in front of your eyes.
You are doing your best, giving it your all, but you need to make progress.
You take one step forward, then ten steps back.
The sad part is when you talk to people about the situation, they smile and say, “Well, that’s the way it goes. You’ll have to up your game.”
Of course, this makes you want to scream or gorge on your favourite Comfort Food.
Sure, they tell you to up your game, but that simply means to improve.
Can you improve every day of your life?
Success, you see, is a game of cat and mouse.
It’s like Tom and Jerry in real life.
Sometimes you feel like Tom, sometimes Jerry.
But either way, whether you are on your game or not, there’s always someone coming up with a new gamechanger that creates a new ballgame.
You could hate them for that, but what’s the use?
Don’t hate the player, hate the game.
They say youth is wasted on the young, and you believe it.
Every time you put in that extra effort to up your game, another young university graduate who thinks they know everything comes along with a little gadget or line of code that can easily beat you at your own game.
It’s enough to boggle the mind but don’t give up; roll with the punches.
You can retire when you are seventy, but until then, happy Monday.
