Phrase: Up the Ying-yang
If you have a lot of something or an excess of something, then you have it up the ying-yang.
My quest to discover the origin of this phrase was unsuccessful.
I know it may appear to be Chinese and similar to the concept of yin and yang or dualism in Chinese philosophy, but this is not the same thing.
What I can tell you is that as far as English words go, it’s not that old.
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, it was first used in 1968.
You may already know that most people in Monaco have money up the ying-yang.
There is money everywhere, and you need to be able to spend money like water to go anywhere in Monaco.
If you live in Monaco or have berthed a yacht in Monaco, you must have money up the ying-yang because it’s a very exclusive and expensive place to live.
