When something must be done immediately, you can use the expression time is of the essence.


Perhaps you are starting to notice a little bit of middle-age spread and are thinking about going on a diet or limiting how many empty calories you consume.

Well, time is of the essence, and the best time to do that is now.

Or maybe you’re thinking about improving your English language skills.

Instead of thinking about things like that, in my opinion, we should just do it.

From experience, I have found that when I wait to do things or when I overthink something, I usually have regrets later about not starting earlier.

Let’s get to it; time is of the essence.
