Expression: The best thing since sliced bread

If someone is excited about something, such as a new idea or product, they can say they are excited about it, or they can say it is the best thing since sliced bread.

The invention of sliced bread was so great that it became an idiom, meaning a wonderful invention or new idea.

When someone uses today’s expression, they are usually exaggerating, and it is humorous.

This expression is kind of fun to use too.

If a company comes up with a newfangled electronic device that people can wear instead of carrying in their pocket, you can say, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s the best thing since sliced bread! I have to get one of those.’
