Phrase: Stroke of midnight

At the stroke of midnight, 2016 ended, and 2017 started.

The stroke of midnight is exactly at midnight. Every night, exactly at the stroke of midnight, one day ends, and another begins.

That’s right, exactly as the clock turned to midnight or at the stroke of midnight, we entered the year twenty-seventeen.

We all woke up this morning in a brand new New Year.

2017 is bright, shiny and full of promise.

I wish nothing but the best to all my students and everyone else too in 2017.

May it be a very prosperous and fruitful year full of happiness and cheer for everyone.
