Idiom: Straight and narrow

It is extremely easy to get off the straight and narrow and find yourself in the weeds in life.

What the heck am I talking about?

Well, to be on the straight and narrow means living an honest and morally good life.

So, if you are living on the straight and narrow, there is no sex, drugs and rock and roll for you.

No, I’m just kidding. You can listen to rock and roll.

Many people have fallen victim to drugs, alcohol, and other bad influences in the world.

They get in over their heads and realize they have lost control of the situation.

Unfortunately, by that time, their life has taken a turn for the worse, and they find themselves overdosing in an alley somewhere, in the back of a police car, or worse – dead.

That’s often the result of failing to stay on the straight and narrow.

You see, the straight and narrow is the safe path in life.

It’s the only way to avoid all of life’s temptations that serve no purpose but to delay or destroy your quest to find success and happiness.

Many young people think they can experiment with drugs and then leave an exciting experience behind them.

But it doesn’t work that way.

There is nothing good in illegal drugs or illegal activity of any kind, for that matter.

Sure, things are great at first, but when the trouble begins, all the people who could have helped you are on the straight and narrow.

They have left you behind, and you are suffering on your own.

To avoid a life of failure and hardship, stay on the straight and narrow.
