Springboard

A springboard is a bouncy board used for diving. A springboard can also be things which provide opportunities for further advancement.
It’s Monday! Use it as a springboard to having the best week of your life.

Word of the Day: Springboard

Springboards are bouncy and are used to launch us into other things.

Before you can dive, you need to climb to a high place or jump on a bouncy springboard or diving board to get you high enough so that you can dive correctly.

Springboards are not only for diving though. They can also be the things which provide opportunities for further advancement.

Having a McJob*, for example, can be a springboard to eventually becoming a human resources manager.

Likewise, being given responsibility for a small project can help to launch a person into a future career with even more responsibility and duties managing large, international projects in the future.

The next time you feel stuck in a low-level job, don’t get angry about it, look at it as a springboard to future advancement. Everyone starts at the bottom.

McJob: a low-paid job that offers few chances of advancement.
