WotD: Splash money around
We can think of money as similar to water.
When it is scarce, we value every drop.
However, when we have plenty, we feel it is OK to splash it around.
When you splash money around, you spend a lot of money buying things that you don’t need and could do without.
Expensive holiday vacations in exotic destinations are good examples of how we can splash the cash around if we are not concerned about how much we shell out.
Often, it’s the nouveau riche who spend money like water acquiring things so that people will see they have them.
In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), we can get a good picture of what it looks like when many people have too much excess cash.
The money tends to go to their heads.
Even though they live in the desert, they spend money like water and splash it around as if they have a limitless supply.

Sure, all of us like to splurge once in a while.
It feels good to let loose and purchase something we usually never would.
Splashing money around helps to relieve stress.
Then, of course, the bills begin to roll in because we all know that the credit card statements are endless and unforgiving.
We may look at wealthy places such as the UAE with envy and wish we could splash money around as they do.
Before you become too envious, remember that conspicuous consumption is not everything.
The more things you have, the more bills you have to pay; the bigger the stuff you have, the bigger the bills you receive.
My advice to you is not to splash it all around without first putting a little away for a rainy day.
