How are you planning to see in the New Year?
Maybe you are going to go to sleep early.
Some people just can’t stay up late, you know.
To see in the New Year means to stay awake past midnight on December 31 so you can see the New Year begin.
They must go to bed before midnight and cannot keep their eyes open until midnight.
I, for one, plan to see in the New Year quietly on New Year’s Eve at home and stay awake to see in the New Year.
We’ll have Sukiyaki for supper, then toshikoshi soba just before midnight to link the old year and the New Year.
There may be a glass of bubbly to celebrate, too.
