Have you ever been pushed over the edge?
I’m sure you’ve been pushed to the edge a few times, but that’s not what I asked.
The term over the edge is used to describe someone who has lost control or reached their breaking point due to stress.
Now this can result in a wide range of reactions, from emotional outbursts to physical confrontations when someone has reached the point where they can no longer handle a particular situation or stressor.
This can happen for various reasons, including personal issues, work-related stress, or even mental health concerns.
Unfortunately, the pandemic and climate change are real-life situations that have pushed some people over the edge.
As mentioned, one common scenario is workplace stress.
When you are constantly overworked or underappreciated, you may eventually snap and lash out at your coworkers or even quit your job.
Similarly, personal issues can also push someone over the edge.
For example, a person going through a divorce or dealing with a problematic family situation may become overwhelmed and lose control.
Of course, not everyone who is pushed over the edge will react in the same way.
Some people may shut down emotionally or withdraw from social situations.
Others may seek out therapy or other forms of support to help them cope with their stressful situations.
It’s essential to look after ourselves and seek help when we feel we’re being pushed over the edge rather than letting our stressors push us to the brink.
By doing so, we can avoid reaching the point of no return and instead find healthy ways to manage our stress and emotions.
