English Phrase: Open to interpretation

If something is open to interpretation, it means that the meaning is not clear.


Quite often, in poetry, the sense that a poet wants to convey is open to interpretation.

Each person reading the poem may get a different meaning or understand the verse differently.

Different people may have different opinions or understandings when things are open to interpretation.
