WotD: Necessary evil
To survive in this world, we all have to accept things that we’d rather not.
In Canada, we have free healthcare, and Canadians love it.
However, to have free healthcare, higher taxes are a necessary evil.
A necessary evil is something that we have to accept but would prefer not to.
Taxes and work could each be an example of a necessary evil.
In my opinion, higher taxes are a small price to pay for peace of mind when your health is failing.
Another necessary evil in life is working.
Some people enjoy working very much, but most of us would rather not work at all.
Unfortunately, we all have to work for a living.
Hopefully, the harder we work, the more benefits we can enjoy and the more amenities we can afford to have in our lives.
Of course, these are just two examples of necessary evils.
I’m sure if you think about it, you could come up with more than a few more.
