Word of the Day: Metrics
I’m sorry to tell you this, but whenever you speak to someone, they judge and form opinions about you.
They judge you by many metrics related to your appearance, such as age, gender, nationality and how you speak to them.
Then, they use another set to judge how you speak.
These could include your accent, vocabulary, speaking speed, whether you make eye contact or not and, of course, your intonation.
You see, these are just some of the metrics we use to judge people daily.
Metrics are methods or standards used to measure something.
They can be standardized or random, such as an opinion.
The most important thing to remember is that you can’t judge a book by its cover.
