English Proverb: Marry in haste, repent at leisure
What do you think this proverb means?
Let me give you a clue.
Have you ever heard the expression, ‘What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas‘?
Well, when it comes to marriage, this is not true.
Sometimes, people get married on a whim and regret it later, especially in Vegas after a great weekend.
Marry in haste, repent at leisure means that if you make a mistake in marriage, you will have the rest of your life to regret it.
Marrying someone is one of the most significant decisions you can ever make in your life.
Of course, becoming an astronaut and going to Mars would be pretty big, too, but not many people do that yet.
With that said, marrying without thinking it through could leave you with a lifetime of regret.
Remember, you must ensure that the person you are marrying is Mr. or Ms. Right, not just Mr. or Ms. Right Now.
Take your time and think things through.
A great time in Vegas is just that, a great time in Vegas.
Marry in haste, repent at leisure.
