English Saying: Man cannot live by bread alone
The saying man cannot live by bread alone means that art is essential to have fulfilling, enjoyable lives.
Money is not the most crucial thing in life.
It’s not food, either.
Art is also not necessary to live your life.
When you are feeling down, a great song on the radio can perk you back up again.
A great book can give you hours and hours of reading satisfaction and take you to places you could never physically go.
Poetry can make you feel and think things you never thought you could.
A great painting (or a terrible painting) can be a catalyst for engaging conversation.
There are many essential things in life, and we need them all.
I hope we always have the opportunity to study the arts because, in conjunction with everything else, they help to make our lives whole – no one can live on bread alone.
