Phrase: Land on your feet
Hopefully, if you’re reading this, you’ve made it through the pandemic and landed on your feet.
It was quite a trial by fire there for a while, wasn’t it?
Although I have to admit Japan was not as negatively affected as other countries.
Only two people I know, one online and one neighbour, have had COVID-19.
So, maybe we were never knocked on our arses here in Japan.
In my small community, we’ve mostly been observers of the slow-motion train wreck that is the COVID-19 pandemic watching unaffected while the world outside suffered blow after blow.
I’ve jinxed myself now and will catch COVID-19 soon.
Oh, well. Anyways, it seems like the rest of the world has landed on its feet.
When you land on your feet, you have gone through a bad time or challenging experience but are now in a good situation or condition.
My father was a wizard when it came to landing on his feet.
One time while working on the mainland in Toronto, he lost his job.
This could have been a disaster for a man with five young children and a wife.
However, the day he flew home, he received a phone call offering him a job.
So, he was laid off on Friday, flew home on Saturday, was offered a job on Saturday night, and began a new job on Monday morning.
He didn’t miss a paycheck!
My father has passed away, but he was a member of a very rare breed of men who always, no matter what happens to them, manage to land on their feet.
