Idiom: Keep your head above water

Are you able to say that you can keep your head above water?

In the financial sense, I mean.

Our friendly little sea turtle here has no problem doing it, but she has no money worries to keep her up at night.

From the time we enter adulthood until the day we leave this earth, we must struggle to avoid getting too deep into debt.

For the rest of us, however, just paying the bills and maintaining a roof over our heads is a daily challenge.

We could be overburdened at work or find ourselves getting in over our heads financially.

Either way, we have to work hard to survive; we have to struggle.

When I think about it, it might be nice to be a sea turtle; they have little trouble keeping their head above water.
