Idiom: Keep an eye on

In my own opinion, we should all be keeping an eye on Europe, or more specifically, Britain, at the moment.

To keep an eye on something means that we should be watching or monitoring the situation very carefully.

I mean, with all the economic uncertainty surrounding the British decision to leave the EU, we should try to be aware of what’s going on.

It’s unknown exactly how Brexit will affect the rest of the world.

We need to keep an eye on two things.

The first is the developing situation in Europe and how that will affect international trade and trade agreements.

The second is because we are language learners or teachers.

There is a new lexicon that is developing as a result of the outcome of this referendum.
