Phrase: In full swing

What a difference a year makes.

This time last year, COVID-19 was in full swing.

Now, we’re all breathing easy as we return to some semblance of ‘normal life.’

When something is in full swing, it’s fully operational and no longer reduced or in the nascent stages.

So, as I was saying, what a difference a year makes.

In March last year, no one considered the possibility of war in Europe.

Except perhaps Putin and his cronies.

He may have been planning the invasion of Ukraine for years.

Heck, in the middle of February, Ukrainians refused to believe that Russia would invade their land.

However, here we are.

It’s the middle of March 2022 with a war in full swing in Ukraine, Russia asking China for help while they sabre-rattle north of Hokkaido, warning Japan not to do more than it already is.

Yet, life goes on.

Did you see that Major League Baseball and its players have agreed to a new contract?

Yes, soon, spring training will be in full swing in preparation for another season.

I’m not a big baseball fan.

Sure, I like spending an afternoon at the ballpark with a beer in my hand and the sun in my eyes as much as the next guy, but I very much enjoy listening to games on the radio.

Nothing says summer like a hot day and a baseball game on the radio.

We’ve just had a few 20℃ days here in Wakayama.

Spring is in the air, and soon, summer will be in full swing.
