Phrase: In a nutshell

In a nutshell, is a little phrase people use when they want to say that they are going to use as few words as possible to explain something.

Imagine a guy goes to Los Vegas for the weekend with a few of his buddies.

They have a few drinks and a delicious supper and then hit the casino.

Well, one guy gets carried away with both alcohol and gambling until he has lost everything that he owns.

What does he say to his wife when he gets home on Sunday night?

Husband: Honey, in a nutshell, we’re broke.

Wife: You’re a nut job! GET OUT!
