Saying: Idle hands do the devil’s work

You must keep yourself busy.

Yes, I know we all dream about a life of leisure, but believe me when I say idle hands do the devil’s work.

Idle hands do the devil’s work means that if people don’t have a way to fill their time, there is a good chance they will do something to get themselves in trouble.

Many children attend summer camps during the summer months.

Sure, those kids are lucky enough to have parents who can afford to send them there, but there is another reason – idle hands do the devil’s work.

Bored children will inevitably get up to something they shouldn’t.

Summer camp keeps them busy, gives them great memories, and may even teach them something, too.

The same principle of doing something goes for adults, too.

The experts tell us it’s essential to plan our retirement before it’s too late.

Keep in mind we’re talking about keeping busy here, not how much money we will need.

By the way, if you’re wondering how much is enough money for retirement, I have a lesson on that.

I’m just saying.

Anyways, we have to decide what activities we will do during our retirement.

Idle hands do the devil’s work, as the saying goes, and we will become couch potatoes if we have no plan.

Sitting around the house, stuffing our faces with munchies, is not the best way to spend our golden years.

Whether a person is a ten-year-old child or a sixty-five-year-old retiree, idle hands do the devil’s work unless they have something to keep themselves busy and out of trouble.
